At the direction of the Local Liquor Control Commission, the City prepared comprehensive amendments to Chapter 119 of the City Code, which regulates the sale at retail of alcoholic liquor in the City (“Liquor Ordinance”). Specifically, the Local Liquor Control Commission directed that the Liquor Ordinance be rewritten in order to both clarify existing City practices and to strengthen the City’s ability to enforce its liquor laws. |

The amendments consist of numerous substantive changes, as well as a comprehensive reorganization of the Chapter intended to facilitate effective enforcement of the Liquor Ordinance. The proposed new Liquor Ordinance, a new fee structure, and a summary of the proposed revisions, can be viewed by clicking on the links. The City Council approved these amendments at its regular meeting on Monday, October 13, 2008. The amended Ordinance took effect on January 1, 2009. |
