The Community Development
Department includes the Building Division, Planning and Economic
Development Division, and Fort Sheridan Redevelopment Division.
The Mission of the Department of Community Development
is to coordinate current and long-range planning; to conduct plan
review, to issue building permits, to provide inspection services;
to administer the appropriate City ordinances to preserve neighborhood
character and enhance the City's quality of life within the context
of the City's official Comprehensive Master Plan; to educate the
community on the importance of the City's historic and cultural
resources; to develop marketing and arts programs; and to serve
as a professional planning and development resource to the elected
and appointed officials and community at large.
Grants Available for Affordable Housing Development
The City of Highland Park announced the availability of $400,000
in grants from its Affordable Housing Trust Fund (HTF) to assist
the development of affordable housing located in Highland Park.
The HTF is an affordable housing funding program created and operated
by the City of Highland Park through its Housing Commission. Contact
